I am planning on going to university in September and I am getting stressed out about student finance and things. The applications open in March and I want to get this right so I am asking for advise now.
I haven't had a diagnosis yet however I am on the waitlist for an assessment. I am going to be applying for DSA (Disabled Students Allowance) and I'm not sure what I need to do. I have been emailed a form from my college that I need to get my doctor to sign as I know there needs to be evidence for SFE (Student Finance England. I also have panic attacks and have dislexic tendancies (according to my college as I had a dislexia screening), however I have been told that those things won't count as evidence for my DSA application. I haven't been able to talk to my doctor about this because of the pandemic. My referral for an autism assessment was done over the phone (which I felt wasn't an effective way to do it, plus I hate phonecalls).
If anyone went to university and got DSA while there, what was the process like? Do I need to bring anything in with me? What type of support can you get and what can't they do? What sort of stuff did you get? Any advise would be good.
