Blue Badge

Hello, I live in Scotland and have a telephone interview for a blue badge on Wednesday.

Has anyone else had an interview, or know what I should say during it? I am trying to make notes as I tend to panic and forget what I want to say during interviews.

  • My 81 yr old mum has one because of her rheumatoid arthritis. They take one look at her pain/ arthritis meds and say 'ok'. No, she can't walk far. I think for a blue badge it's the mobilty/ panic issues they look at. Collect your notes around that.

  • I haven't but they say honesty is the best policy so just be honest tell them what it's really like for you and how things are. Definitely write down what you want to say before it happens that way your prepared and don't have to think on the spot.

  • I had similar experience with a disabled bus pass. My situation is complex in that multiple driving instructors felt the need to inform the DVLA that i am not capable of driving/learning to drive and has resulted in the DVLA informing me that i am not allowed to start driving lessons until i have had an ADHD assessment or dyspraxia assessment. Long story short there is no adult pathway to diagnose dyspraxia and i have been on the ADHD assessment waiting list for nearly a decade now. i am now going through psychiatry Uk and have to wait until october for official assessment to get the formal diagnosis .

I had my support worker with me and they honestly behave like the DWP and the PIP assessors. They will use anything against you or deem you not autistic enough or disabled enough to get access to the blue badge.
