Hi there :)

Hi there just wanted to introduce myself a little bit (without names)

So I am a 27yr old mum with a little boy who's going on 3. He's been diagnosed for over a year now. So we live in the Cambridgeshire area (anyone else?) How are people doing these days? Everyone managing? Was just hoping that people may have some words of wisdom or some hope to share!

Even though he was diagnosed a while ago now, we have speech therapy but appart from that we have no other help at the moment. I sometimes feel at a loss as we are pretty isolated and even though I have a few friends they seem to be more of an aquatence instead :/

We have our good days and bad days as I'm pretty sure you all do yourself. But I'm always available to talk to anybody that might need a listening ear.

  • Hi Jess and a big welcome to the community! Sorry to hear you have been feeling so isolated, I have some links to information/advice that might help:

To find out about the support available for autistic adults and children, parents and carers, how to request an assessment or find out about funding for social care please visit: https://www.autism.org.uk/advice-and-guidance/topics/social-care

Additionally, you may be interested in contacting a local National Autistic Society branch. Our branches offer support to local autistic people and their families. If you interesting in checking if there is a local branch near to you, please follow the link below: https://www.autism.org.uk/what-we-do/local-branches

Our branches are volunteer-led, and as such every branch and group is different. Some are parent support groups, some provide support and information to autistic adults, while others have office premises and run their own a drop-in service. You will need to check with a branch directly for more information on whether they are able to provide a particular service that you are interested in.

    Hope that helps,
