Cant get a diagnosis

Hi everyone, I have recently discovered I might have autism - well i am very sure I have so I did the aq test online and scored 34/50 and it said I have many autistic traits. I spoke to my doctor and he said he can refer me to a local service but they are likely to reject my referral because unless I have threatening behaviour or am violent I wont get seen. So unfair

Can anyone give any advice?

Thanks

  • It doesn't sounds like your GP is the problem but whoever the service they'd be referring you to. That said, I would still see a different GP if you choose to try again. If the problem really is further up the line, one option would be to get the referral and then, if you are rejected take it up with whoever sends you that letter. My daughter was initially rejected for an assessment because the doctors letter was really vague. When wrote a letter and questioned it, offering up more specific details, then her referral was accepted.
