Cant get a diagnosis

Hi everyone, I have recently discovered I might have autism - well i am very sure I have so I did the aq test online and scored 34/50 and it said I have many autistic traits. I spoke to my doctor and he said he can refer me to a local service but they are likely to reject my referral because unless I have threatening behaviour or am violent I wont get seen. So unfair

Can anyone give any advice?

Thanks

  • It seems that mental health provision is provided only on an emergency basis in the UK- waiting until people reach a crisis then responding rapidly when it's too late. For example, services for eating disorders won't allow people to enter until they're dangerously underweight. It's very much a false economy, of course. It would strike me as being much better to provide pre-emptive services, in the same way that exercise and good diets are promoted for physical health.
