Cant get a diagnosis

Hi everyone, I have recently discovered I might have autism - well i am very sure I have so I did the aq test online and scored 34/50 and it said I have many autistic traits. I spoke to my doctor and he said he can refer me to a local service but they are likely to reject my referral because unless I have threatening behaviour or am violent I wont get seen. So unfair

Can anyone give any advice?

  • Talk about unfair. I think the doctor is wrong in that, being threatening and violent isn't the only traits for autism. I see others have suggested you see a different doctor I think that's a good idea and might be worth you doing. I saw a few before my referral and diagnosis ball started rolling. Took a little time to find the right doctor who was supportive and helpful.
