Cant get a diagnosis

Hi everyone, I have recently discovered I might have autism - well i am very sure I have so I did the aq test online and scored 34/50 and it said I have many autistic traits. I spoke to my doctor and he said he can refer me to a local service but they are likely to reject my referral because unless I have threatening behaviour or am violent I wont get seen. So unfair

Can anyone give any advice?

Thanks

  • While it is true that struggling is a requirement for getting diagnosed (which is ridiculous for many reasons), this is not restricted to just threatening or antisocial behaviour. It also includes things like, poor mental health for you, struggling in education or employment, struggling with interpersonal relationships, being bullied, etc.

I'd recommend privately looking up your local diagnostic clinic to see if anything on their website indicates this but I doubt it, and maybe ask to see a different GP about it because this doctor appears misguided at best.

  • I am going on different websites trying to look for help. The doctor has done lots of referrals but apparentky only 1 person was accepted because they were a threat to housemates.
