Jobs and Autism

A lot of posts about work and jobs recently. I'm not certain, but it does feel a member of our community was given a marketing role at eon...

Curious as to people general experience with "tone deaf"ness...

Anyone willing to share any examples of when they've: been, seen or experienced it in a work setting? Preferably in a "how we laughed" rather than "and then I was sacked" situation...

  • I work in tech but I don't have many good examples because people like me are mostly kept away from the general public. My company has very talented affable people who interact with the clients and then interact with developers and everybody else involved to make sure everybody is on the same page.

Although there have been a few occasions where I have misunderstood what someone is asking, such as the project manager asking "can you deploy this" and I respond with "yes". Then days later I'm being asked why it wasn't deployed... to my mind I responded truthfully that yes, I am able to deploy this. I didn't realise he was asking me to actually deploy it...

I am trying to improve on this, but it's difficult when I have to constantly second guess what people are saying and wondering if they have hidden motives. I wish everybody would be clear and not expect others to read "signals" and unspoken subtext.
