Hi, Recently Referred. Waiting list Question. :)

Hi, I know it's uncertain depending on where you live and of course covid - but how long until you got your assessment date? I was referred after biting the bullet and went to my GP.

Before that, I read a few stories and experiences on here and I'm honestly grateful for finding this forum.

I would love to get to know anyone! Smile

  • The NHS is just broken in regard to mental health services and autism assessment and support in particular. For a comparison, I suddenly developed tinnitus and within 2 months I had a CT scan of my head, the next month I had audiology tests and was fitted for hearing aids that I didn't ask for, all free on the NHS (it turns out I cannot wear the hearing aids because of sensory issues with things in my ear canal, due to my autism).  For an autism assessment I went private - I had no confidence in my GP on this issue - and waited a total of 3 weeks. Yes, it is disgusting, but if you are fortunate enough to be able to throw money at this particular problem, it just disappears.
