who else refuses novocaine

Hey wondering does anyone else here refuse novocaine at the dentist?

I refuse novocaine because the fat lip numb feeling bothers me tactility and I cannot tolerate it. I often panic weeks before a dental exam appointment, fearing if I have cavities, the dentist would force novocaine. I take very good care of my teeth, brush them 3 times a day, but at the same time drink mt dew alot. Yet I stay cavity free, so I am guessing genetics, strong teeth, IDK?

I have not had perfect teeth, 100 percent as I did get 2 cavities as a teenager. I had to get two fillings done back when I was 15-16. And yes I got the fillings done, no novocaine, no numbing. I just had to dentist go in there and start drilling without any type of numbing or sedation. And guess what it did not hurt. One of the fillings was quite deep, like well into the dentin (brown part of tooth below enamel) - drilled down there without novocaine and it did not hurt.

Wondering if anyone else refuses novocaine like me and if they have high pain tolerance like me for deep fillings without novocaine.

Makes me wonder if I could do a tooth extraction or root canal without novocaine? As a patient, its my right to refuse local anesthia. There is no rule that you have to have novocaine. And I refuse it so much, if it did start to hurt, I would just sit there thru the pain and not tell the dentist.
