Film Night 2 - Back on, thanks to BT openreach!

Following the "raging sucess" of last Saturdays ZOOM based Film night, I intend to do it again this saturday evening at 20:00hours.

I've got a few films I know are "generally pleasing" (as well as really pleasing to me) to an adult audience, and I'm assuming that my Autism affects my judgemnt when it comes to "really pleasing", so it seemed appropriate.

Using the zoom format means you can join, watch the film and not interact in any way, which makes it as safe as it can be, although there are two ten minute breaks, (where we all haev to log out and log back in again, due to me using free version, but you can refresh your drink etc then so it isn't too bad, and an opportunity at the end to speak and interact if you want to.

I allow ten minutes at the start, for people to log in, and if no-one logs in well me and the other guy do this anyway. I'll try and rotate our way through types of film, and do prefer "nice" so whilst last weeks was from the weird, obscure czechoslovakian genre, this weeks will be a sci-fi comedy, etc.

My aims with this are two fold.

1. To provide an opportunity for even the most socially averse people to actually participate in a social event. I'm deliberately insisiting on choosing the films, (until there are enoough people complaining that I have to open it up to the membership a bit!) to provide films youve not likely seen, that nevertheless have enough "interestingness" to stimulate conversation eiether on the forum, of if people really want to, after the programme via zoom. I met quite a few people in the eighties whilst attending someone's film night, and I enjoyed it greatly, even if it was complaining to the others if he'd picked one I really hadn't enjoyed and I don't see why a few of you couldn't get the same thing out of my version.

2. Ever since the eighties I've fantasised about operating a small cinema...

Because I'm tailoring the selection to my potential Audience and also am having trouble being organised enough to pull it off professionally, I tend to only decide the film when I've an idea who from here might be interested. If it's all boys of a type, for example, I might try "mars attacks" as the sci-fi comedy choice, but if we get some more sensitive types, it might well be "Galaxy Quest", or even "Paul".

Yes, I will look at posters profiles, and postings briefly, and do my best to pick the film you are most likely to enjoy as a group. Yes, I'll read the suggestions and time permitting investigate the ones I don't know, but I'm unwilling to review or comment on recommendations.

Any takers?
