Hello everyone, :) 

So this is something I’ve noticed about myself for a while and only noticed it was something to do with my AS which is I hum twice or I’ll  bite my lip and also I’ll  rub my fist together which I do a lot when I’m on my PS4 so it’s like a comfort? I never mentioned this at my diagnosis a years ago as I didn’t think of it at the time, I just want to know if anyone does a similar thing? I know that younger children do this but I’m 32 so I’m not sure?

  • Hi, I pick and bite the skin around my finger nails,  I wring my hands, I  bite my lips and the worst one is I make a grunting/clearing throat sound - I'm 45 and have done this since I was a child.  My parents tried to get me to stop but I never could, now my husband tries to get me to stop but I just can't.  It's a compulsion that I just have to do.  Luckily my children are completely fine with it - I suppose they've never known anything else.

    that's the trick

    one of my frtiend is from a city with a house for grown up autistics unable to live on their own, he has seen them walking around the city with their carers since he was very little, so he doesn't find any of my behaviour weird.

    it's why we shouldn't hide stimming especially in front of children, so they grow up finding it normal.
