Hey.

This is my first post - go easy :D

I haven't yet gone for an assessment or really dived into the topic yet so am not sure where I fit in (if at all).  I had always thought I could be autistic, I just seem to be a little different to people, then when watching the Paddy/Christine McGuiness show I really felt as though a lot of the signs they were talking about really resonated with me.  It was like a light bulb moment.  It actually upset me because I suppose I felt as thought I fitted in somewhere.

Since the programme I have scoured these forums and other sources and it seems to me that I fit in with the female presentation of autism.  I am male!  Is this a thing!?

Anyway, reading all the forum posts had helped me understand things a little better.  Although seeing people's posts again resonated with how my life has been the last 30 odd years so it was all quite a bit overwhelming.

    That sounds like me in school was slow also later tested and found to be autistic +dd.What is the female type?

    It depends on whether you need ot for work or other purposes, my workplace are happy for people to self diagnose so I don't need a formal certificate, as you say you can relate to people here and realise how similar you are

    Thanks, noUserName.  That's part of my thoughts - I have managed so far - do I need an assignment?  I'm not sure.

    I certainly felt solace in realising I was similar to other people anyway.

    I started because of 2 things

    my daughter was diagnosed with slow processing at school
    my workplace started talking about hidden disabilities and provide a lot of advice and help.
    I went through the NHS but had to wait for a year, during that time talking to people at work I realised that I did not need a diagnosis s I do not need any help to live.  Eventually the NHS came back and invited me to a few Zoom meetings and then told me I didn't have enough routines to get a diagnosis.  I did consider going back to them but as I said I don't need any help so ther is nothing they can do for me except give me an official piece of paper
