Sensory diet

Hi does anyone know of any good resources about sensory diets for adults? I'm looking for something along the lines of...

If it's high in this area try ABC.  If it's low in this area, try XYZ.

The websites I've looked at seem to offer advice for children or are generic example, like "use a trampoline" or "use a weighted blanket".

I was wondering if there's anything which could be more personalised or a table which shows high/low input with sensory stimuli examples for each one, depending on the individual.

  • My son is very sensory and diet is something we struggled with. He overate all the time are large portions continuously while appearing to not chew his food.

we changed our diet as a family to help him,

no more junk food in the house & cook from scratch.

we always make sure there is crunchy food on his plate from veg ( cooked for minutes ) to crusty roll dependant on the dinner. If we had something like lasagne, he always has a side salad with lots of crunch. This helped massively. The harder he worked fo chew the more satisfied he felt.

we noticed changes in his behaviour when we cut out processed and packaged food and reduced levels of overeating.

    good luck Fingers crossed tone1

  • You know, I think crunchy food does help.  I'm going to try this week to have a portion of crunchy stuff with each meal. Good idea!
