Autism Diagnosis and NHS Records?

I'm a bit confused with my diagnosis and if It is a diagnosis or was I supposed to do more?

I went to my GP for a diagnosis as I've been to a therapist for years and none of it helped with anxiety and dealing with people as It would always just end up going back again. I was referred to a Consultant Psychiatrist at the GP after speaking with my doctor as I told he I think I might be after doing research myself and he comes in once a week who I was told is specialised in ASD and other things being a adult I assume that's normal. After 3 appointments with him talking to my mum and me and reading my notes of things I struggle with and my past he diagnosed with ASD and Tourette's type symptoms and was given a letter that just says that and not much else. I was told to try medication to help and that was that.

But my younger brother was referred to the hospital and had a team and all sorts of other things when he was diagnosed he was only 3 though and I guess that's why but I've heard people being diagnosed that way as adults and never seen it the other ways I didn't get much else other then a letter which I asked for and that's it even looking online at my NHS record I can't find anything about it apart from my letter which had to be found but nothing on my NHS record to say I am and my doctors could find anything straight away I don't know if there is supposed to be something on my record at a glance or that I am diagnosed or not as my head wont let it go as being diagnosed has helped me understand myself more but can't help but think if it is a diagnosis or not.

I'm more looking for clarity from anyone as I don't want to go for help with it and be told I can't as I'm not diagnosed as there is things to help people that are as I struggle dealing with people in public and other things which at the moment my nan and mum help with but need to eventually get help with coping.
