'Severe' Autism

Just wondering if anyone knows a better way of saying 'Severe' or 'low functioning' Autism.

I don't like using labels like this as I feel it diminishes others struggles.

I understand there are those with more support needs but is there a better way to phrase this?

  • ASD level 1 (minimum support needed in daily life) typically with no other disability or health condition.
ASD level 2 (moderate support needed in daily life) typically with another disability or health condition.
ASD level 3 (maximum support needed in daily life) typically with other disabilities or conditions.

These are how we were told they classify autism in terms of support needs. As a Level 1, 2, or 3 (and they list disabilities or health conditions separately).
