The forgotten history of autism.

This is six years old, and our knowledge of autism is moving incredibly fast.  But it's a fascinating, easily watched, 13 minute talk by American writer Steve Silberman.

He's also written a book on autism - "NeuroTribes: The Legacy of Autism and the Future of Neurodiversity".

Here's a summary of his views:

"An autistic [man] named Zosia Zaks once said, "We need all hands on deck to right the ship of humanity." As we sail into an uncertain future, we need every form of human intelligence on the planet working together to tackle the challenges that we face as a society. We can't afford to waste a brain."

Amen to that.

  • Zosia is a female name in Poland, diminutive of Zofia, which is a polish version of Sophia, those bloody americans are going to turn everyone into Charlie or Daniel or Joan/John

  • I've figured out an approach that might allow a bunch of Autists to change society for the better.

Based on the premise that most of the foolish and harmful stuff like holocausts and some of the more egregrious forms of economic disparity can only function under a partial or full cover of lies, it seems obvious that in order to fix things, you first need to remove the lies.

Now if that strikes you as perfectly true and logical but impossibel to achieve, please, read on, because my spidey sense (which is ALWAYS RIGHT) tells me it is very doable indeed...

All we need to do is produce and disseminate to the wider (and soon to be wiser) public a suite of "test gear for truth".

I've not finalised by any means a list of these tools, (it will take a team I am sure) but an example of my thinking is to widen the use of voice stress analysis tools to the general public. When the general public catches on that they can run a bit of VSA software to analyse a politicians speeches on you tube, (these tools are currently used when you phone in an insurance claim with some companies to allocate a loss adjuster to those who fail that test) and enough people do it so that reliabilty can be accurately defined, they'll never get away with lying to us again! There are more logic based tools (not generally available to the public) that will analyse communications and spot inconsistencies.

The novelty of the idea (and hard work) is in selecting, organising, and making the tools easily useable with high confidence by the average Joe, who when he realises that a VSA software running on his or her phone can indicate to a very reasonable degreee of accuracy whether the salesman is covering up anything, whether his missus really did have to comfort an old friend last night, or his daughter is raiding his wallet etc. will see the utility of such a thing...

I as much as anyone, understand the pleasure one gets from sucessfully decieving someone, but I have come to realise that it is only a genuine and innocent pleasure in the context of a game such as illuminati, or poker. It's not so good in a global emergency situation where loons running about spewing lies and misinformation start getting traction, are influencing people to do stupid things.

Something needs to be done. I propose that those who are like minded in their pursuit of sanity, or truth, or a "real reality" band together and make some smelting and refining tools that work fot the average man to distill the truth of his or her situation.

It could be the quantum leap we all need to get us past this horrible period in human history...
