Empathy

Does anyone have any book recommendations for books about becoming more empathetic?

Parents
  • Empathy is about relating with and understanding. If you are looking to widen your emotional sensitivity and awareness, reading fiction, exploring a gallery, listening to music - sensory and emotional engagement is something one can do. If you are looking to understand the deeper things of being human, sociology and psychology or philosophy can help. I quite like Eric Fromm's the Art of Loving and Revolution of Hope. But also digging through the self in The Artists Way can be a good journey.

To some degree, we may find it easier to 'trust' when engaging with other AS individuals, as most autists don't typically express from the same motives as NTypicals. But there are elements of being human which all of us experience and can relate to.
