Meltdowns and changing hormonal levels

I'm supposed to be at work today but I'm not because I'm just coming out of a 'meltdown' which started at the weekend. What I mean by 'meltdown' is I became extremely stressed and anxious, to the point where I can't face life and I need to hide away. I cannot perform everyday tasks due to insurmountable mental obstacles. I feel totally withdrawn and helpless.

For me it tends to coincide with hormone levels changing. It's like PMT +ASD + depression and anxiety all rolled into one 'lethal' cocktail. I think menopause will be a very miserable process.

Does anyone else have time off work due to meltdowns? Do you think your normal monthly changes in hormone levels contribute to a meltdown?

  • Thanks for your reply Peter. I wasn't expecting a reply from a man! Not that I've got a problem with it!

I'd honestly never heard of people thinking HRT is something only cougars or tacky people do! My only hesitation would be about the link to *** cancer, but I think that has been disproven? I hope it's an option for me and I hope it works! In the meantime I'm going to try a supplement as JuniperFromGallifrey kindly suggested. Many thanks again.
