Diagnosis of Asperger's Syndrome & Dating

Hi there. I am a 43 year old male, who was diagnosed with ASD Aspergers in 2017. Things like this were rarely heard of as I was growing up, hence not being diagnosed when I was a lot younger. Anyway, my main problem with my ASD is dating as my Asperger's plays on my nerves, making things difficult with chatting to women. If its a chat via messenger etc, I'm ok but struggle in person. I'm looking to here from people in a similar situation, and how your ASD affects you.

    The best thing you can do (and I know it is a phrase we hear all the time) is to be yourself. Be authentically you.

    Before you think about dating someone else, try dating yourself. Do you like yourself? What are the things you find attractive about yourself?

    We get anxious about dating when we don't like ourselves. Not thinking we are good enough makes us desperate for acceptance from the other person, and so we focus all our energy on how we are performing, jumping through hoops in order hide our flaws (the one we think we have) and to get the approval of the other person.
