Hair chewing as a child?

Hii,

I'm just wondering, did anyone else go through a hair chewing phase as a child/young teen (I imagine this would be more aimed at women as we usually have hair long enough to fit in our mouths.)

I wouldn't 'chew' it as such, but I would run it through my mouth/over my lips over and over again because I liked the feel of it.

I wonder if this is an autism thing? Does anyone know? I feel like the repetitive movement may lend itself to autism? Could it be classed as stimming maybe?

I'm getting an assessment soon so I'm currently self diagnosed but I'm trying to get everything sorted in my mind about my childhood and things I would do that would be a symptom of autism, if this makes sense.

Any replies would be appreciated!!!
