Rejection

I was on an online sermon which discussed rejection, through the story of the Wives of Jacob. There was jealousy, misuse of sexuality and the need to feel loved.

The signal stopped working, however I got more than enough for me to relate. I was never praised at home, so I became competitive on tests and homework at school. Then I belittled Classmates. I didn't know any better.

Now, I have a huge sense of inferiority and lack of self-worth. My brain never shuts down.

  • There's a chap called Erwin McManus https://twitter.com/erwinmcmanus you might find helpful? How we were designed to function in our youth is not something we can regret but have sorrow for. Erwin once mentioned something about this in that Regret is identifying something you were aware of and should or shouldn't have engaged in which you now wish otherwise.

Kids can be resilient - it's typically parents who break us, while peers we can let go of. And this is exactly how the world works: by paying things forward. I now use this understanding to be compassionate toward certain behaviours. There are ways to word things which might appeal to a bully. Sometimes not when they are unrelentingly indulgent in the chemical rush their love of power is possessing them with. Everyone has an addiction to something.
