Shutdown

Hi I have recently had three episodes of work for a few weeks because I think my body was shutting down with information processing and keeping up. I used to get migraines which ere a shorter period off work but know I’m in a better job that is very supportive but I seem to be still unable to stop getting exhausted weak fatigue slured  speech and impending doom . Sleep helps and being on my own . Does anyone else have this problem? How do you stop a shut down coming ? What can you do in stay in work? Alice

  • I would take 15 to 20 minutes out of contact with any colleagues at work a couple of times a day and sit in any part of the building where there would be no other people  - like on the flight of stairs up to the roof access. This helped. I worked in a university with very flexible working hours and no one time-keeping.

  • When I used to work in an office I booked a meeting room every day for 30 minutes for "Data Assimilation and Segregation". In larger offices, I'd chill out for a while in the multi-faith prayer room (usually quietest mid-morning).

Another option is perhaps to go and mediate quietly at a local Church or Sikh temple (I'm a firm aetheist, but they do tend to be quiet and welcoming places). Bonus at Sikh temple is you can get lunch afterwards.
