Autism assessment coming up

I'm 37 years old and got my assessment coming up.

I'm feeling a bit nervous as I'm hoping an official diagnosis will help me in the future.

In the letter it says  ring someone who has known me from childhood.

My mum has health problems so I'm not sure she can come.

Do you think it's still OK to attend by myself?

Does anyone know the proportion of people they diagnosis or say haven't got it?

Has anyone got any tips?

  • wow thats pretty bad.... i mean, what if you dont know anyone from childhood? .... shouldnt you get extra autism points for that? lol
perhaps its a trick question in which if you bring forward loads of friends that know you perhaps they say well you have friends you known for long time so it doesnt tick our loner tick box for autism lol they need to rethink that requiring people who know you...

  • Having people from your past can help with the assessment, people who knew you for years can provide information on behaviours etc. that can help the assessor come to a conclusion.

However, even though it can (potentially) help, it's not essential.
