Autism assessment coming up

I'm 37 years old and got my assessment coming up.

I'm feeling a bit nervous as I'm hoping an official diagnosis will help me in the future.

In the letter it says  ring someone who has known me from childhood.

My mum has health problems so I'm not sure she can come.

Do you think it's still OK to attend by myself?

Does anyone know the proportion of people they diagnosis or say haven't got it?

Has anyone got any tips?

  • Hi, I was older than you are when I was diagnosed and there just wasn't anyone left who knew me in childhood; it wasn't a problem at all, my assessment went ahead and I was diagnosed as ASD - High Functioning.

I've read of others in the same situation whose assessments still went ahead.

It might be polite to inform them in advance, but I doubt it will be anything to worry about..

The only tip I can give you is to just be honest.
