When I was 3 years ago (around 1987) I was diagnosed with borderline autism. After this diagnoses I was given speech therapy and some help with my schooling. Apart from this limited help I wasn't given any other kind of support. Everything I know about autism and how to cope with it was learned on my own without any help. My parents tried there best but it was obvious to me they don't understand what autism is and how it effects me. I don't have anything written saying I was diagnosed with borderline autism other then what my parents have told me verbally. I don't remember being diagnosed, but I do vaguely remember my speech therapy I had as a child. Despite the concerns with my diagnoses it did allow me figure out my autism throughout my life and not be so hard on myself, but I still feel like I don't have all the answers. What are my options? Do I just continue as I have been? or could I be re diagnosed just so I have something in writing if nothing else? Any advice would be appreciated.
