I find it really hard to make friends.

I have only recently been diagnosed as being on the autism spectrum. I have always struggled to make friends and not entirely understood why, but, now I have more of a understanding as to why I have always found it difficult. However, I find that I am incredibly lonely. I only have 2 or 3 friends and I very rarely get to see them. How do people make friends when they feel as if they aren't entirely understood and don't know how to interact very well?

  • I'm like you, only a couple of friends and barely see them. It is very tricky to make new friends, it's possible to make workmates into mates outside of work. That might be the first thing to try for you. But these days people's interests are so diverse its hard to find others with the same interests.
