Relationships

Does anyone manage a successful relationship. I need someone very nerdy to understand what I’m talking about.

I love all life’s big questions. Finding out why the sky is blue and what the history of anything is.

However I have an anxious attachment and pull away from anyone who is very clever in case I get found out at being terrible at maths so end up dating people who aren’t very bright who essentially bore me rigid tell me I think too much or am too deep etc. These phrases have become my most hated ones!

I seem to gravitate towards engineers as I’m getting older. Not sure why.

Anyone successfully found someone who loves them unconditionally?

  • I think unconditional love tends to be mostly found in parent/child relationships, most romantic partnerships have conditional elements, otherwise the divorce rates would be much lower. It is healthy to recognise your limitations. I have almost zero ability in mental arithmetic, and scraped a maths 'O' level, while my wife gained a top grade at maths 'A' level. However, my memory for facts is hugely greater and more accurate than hers, and my abilities in scientific writing, biology and history are also better. My wife is an intelligent and capable woman and I'm not threatened by that at all. Sharing my life with someone I couldn't hold an intelligent conversation with would be purgatory.
