how to have a conversation?

Hi, I feel a bit stupid writing this. I really struggle with conversations and I know that a lot of autistic people struggle with conversations but I was wondering if anyone had developed any strategies for having conversations? How can I have a long conversation? My conversations last about 2 minutes and then I run out of things to say. I would really like some advice.

  • dont force it, peoples conversations are shallow and pointless anyway, and im sure most people just love the sound of their own voice. the best philosophy is that if there isnt anything to say then why say anything at all? it all becomes noise for the sake of noise but this is what people want in society and is normal. alot of people just repeat themselves over and over and youd hear the same thing said 1000 times from them and it kinda gets boring and obnoxious and youd wish you had a skip function like in games as you heard it all before lol

  • Ok, so I get where you are coming from. I wish I felt the same way as you. I also believe that conversations are literally pointless however I still want to be able to have them.

  • aye id like some social life too or connection with others. but perhaps we are more the type that see that perhaps humanity is better off evolving to be telepathic in some way. in which you dont need to say anything but instead can feel people and connect by mind. that would be much better lol

i feel thats what its like in dreams too, when i dream i dont hear voices, words, thoughts and directions or anything is instead seemingly sent by gesture, or feel or telepathically. perhaps dreams are not dreams but a higher reality beyond our flesh in which we do have this higher form of wordless connection and communication, and perhaps we are slightly aware of that and thus miss it on some level and are not used to this backwards inferior way of connection and communicating in these fleshy bodies we now have.

  • Being telepathic in some way would be great!

That is a very confusing theory however it does actually make sense.
