Started a formal assessment

Hi, I'm in my late 30's. I'm a mum to 3 boys, one who was diagnosed with ASD at the age of 3 (he now 16)

I have known for a long time I am also on the spectrum but with my mental health getting worse. I decided last month to go for a formal assessment, im shocked how fast it moving but I would love to talk to others that are going through / recently been through the assessment.

My husband is supportive, as is my elder sibling and my best friend. However I just want someone who understands as well x

  • Hi LM,

I'm in my 30s also and waiting for an assessment. Glad you have the ball rolling, and it's going quickly for you. I feel as though I have always known as well, and have has people mention it to me at previous jobs as they have seen traits in me that they have seen in their family members.

Mental health has always been a go to diagnosis for me, but somehow I've always felt like there was something they couldn't put their finger on. Since researching, a lot of things have made sense, and I'm waiting for an assessment in order to get support at work in how to deal with situations.

I hope this process gives you what you need to move forward, and glad to read that you have a support system, and people who can support you.

  • hope your wait will be over soon
