Adjustments at work

Hi Everyone

Could you give me some examples of adjustments at work somebody with diagnosed autism could ask for. Also, any tips on how to speak to a manager who says things like: you should know this, this is common sense, etc. and is constantly telling you off for not doing things his way.

My husband has been referred for a diagnosis and it will probably take ages until it’s done. But he struggles with communication at work (particularly with his boss) and I’m looking for some solutions or strategies for him in the meantime.

Thank you

  • i asked for headphones and permission i could wear them for 6 hours at a time.

If i get distressed with office loudness ( chatter,,, standups,,,,, demos etc )  i am allowed to move to a desk at end of the room or to a separate room entirely if need be.

I have asked to Work For Home (WFH)  say 2 days a week, but that has been suspended until after Covid,

But my manager is so happy with my performance lately  that he said he will be supporting my application to WFH  permanently.
