Being Target/Bullied Once Identified as Struggling - For those who struggle functioning in the community.

Has anyone else experienced how when you begin to struggle communication and processing how it is that some individuals seem to suddenly take advantage and or start to demean you in ways that you might not pick up on in terms of what is said, but you can sense the energy that they are 100% demeaning you?

Examples for me, is last year I was attacked by a man with a pickaxe after he ran into my car and we had a difference of opinion.  It was not until I broke down stuttering, pacing and in distress that he went for his pick axe and chase me.  Another time I went to an appointment unsupported and struggled with the Covid19 Scans, once I tried to explain my challenges I was immediately treated as if I was an aggressor. One more time I tried to explained to a parcel delivery guy not to put boxes up against me door in a way that stops me opening my door, but once I got nervous and missed my words, I noticed the guy changed his tune immediately and started disrespecting me.

The context is have you ever noticed how it is when you struggle to communicate or show signs of distress that people then suddenly go on the offensive even when your trying your best to remain calm in an attempt to get an amicable point across?

  • Yes. I also experience this. some people confuse stimming or self soothing behaviour as hostile or a deliberate act of defiance and become super aggressive with you.I have been assaulted with hammers, metal rods and even poisoned with needles,

I often lose my ability to control my tone and volume of my voice and sometimes i am unable to speak but not in a selective mutism way more of i can't remember how to pronounce words or to the point i cant get my point across. Some people misinterpret what i say when i can't control my tone or volume in a hostile way. It sometimes sounds hostile because i am trying to speak while hearing everything rounds me and i cant her myself over the other stimuli. i unconditionally mimic people's tones, voice and sometimes accident and they think i am making a joke at their expense.

Their are nasty individuals that will use you at your most vulnerable to justify hurting you, their is no real way of stop this from keep occurring when your out and about independently.
