Trouble at work

In the space of 12 months Iv been diagnosed as dyslexic ADD and Asperger. I’m 48, my meds have been helping nicely when I’m at work, don’t take them when I’m not in work, cbt has helped. Was asked to give some information to a colleague and he basically shut me down so walked away but muttered something not nice and he heard me. He has put in a complaint. Unfortunately I’m already on a verbal warning due to sickness, the sickness happened due to a breakdown, which resulted in my diagnosis. Im gutted as this is probably going to lead to a final warning, it’s so tough really tough don’t want to loose my job Iv been in and out of work all my life due to not knowing I’m autistic.

  • Damn, this sounds really stressful, I'm sorry. I've definitely muttered things after people have left the room. Maybe subconsciously you want out & wanted him to hear you bc he was being a jerk? Just an idea.

  • I do enjoy what I do, I like the detail but yes I’d love to work on my own, I’m keeping an eye out for evening courses to do, I have dropped a day in work which has helped. I do need to identify the problem people at work and prepare myself before I have contact with them.

  • I have a degree in HR and sadly what they teach about businesses respecting disabilities and what they do in real life still has a huge disconnect. Whatever happens...I believe this will lead to something good.. I know you like your job and feel like you have trouble in the workplace....but it's possible it's not you. I know I've had numerous jobs that I left. Even if you like this job, if it's causing ptsd/breakdowns...anywho. We're here for you. (start at 13:30)
