Survival mode

I'm trying my best to use the strategies I’ve learnt over the years to deal with depression/anxiety and other ailments I have developed in adulthood. I’m very anxious about the world right now, as I’m sure lots of people are. I’m sharing this to acknowledge this won’t last for me or you. I have started colouring therapy books, listening to music and audiobooks, which are things I have enjoyed in the past and I have been for walks now that lockdown restrictions are lifting. I want to encourage people to try to do something they enjoy everyday.

  • The big problem is deciding what I enjoy, when I seem to find problems with everything. Getting older means no activity is a good as it used to be and I can’t forget the past greatnesses.

I do music , drawing and exercise, but it is to such a poor standard I criticise myself. Hard on myself and then there are a few people on this forum, will probably give more harmful comments........

  • That's the bummer with injuries or getting older - nothing works as well as it did - I used to make prize-winning models but my eyesight and fine-motor skills are not what they were.     I'm pretty disgusted with my abilities now - but that's life.

The trick is to find something that you can manage that pleases you to the same standard - either by choosing a new angle or style where you can still excel..

From a modelling pint of view, I'm older so I can afford the bigger models - so my clumsy fingers get to hold bigger bits instead.  Smiley
