Noise cancellation advice

Hello, I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions for problems with nuisance noise please, especially neighbours playing bass music. Do any noise cancelling headphones actually work without playing music yourself? I was having palpitations today so any advice would be much appreciated Slight smile

    so, they are noise cancelling headphones. 

    I have the updated vesion but you can get the vesion previous because it is cheaper.

    The lower bass frequencies have wavelengths of a couple of metres in length so their energy couples with things of similar size - walls, floors, windows etc.   so they are the most annoying - you can literally feel them vibrate your house.    The only way to get rid of that is to change the sympathetic frequencies of those wall & windows - damping - adding curtains or tapestries or heavy 'paintings' to the wall to increase their mass so there's not enough sound energy available to get them to vibrate.

    Another way is isolation - using different materials to block the path of the energy -  a layer of thin polystyrene with a layer of MDF on top - the polystyrene has no mass to transmit the energy and what gets through isn't enough to bother the MDF.

    In windows, you can add 'Decoralead' fake leaded window material that adds mass to the thin glass - random patterns will kill most frequencies.

  • Bass is tough! Lower frequencies are 'felt' in our bones. So you may be able to 'hear' it in your legs for instance. You could talk to your neighbours and ask if there's a better solution. Sometimes the harmonic frequencies resonate "louder" (it's difficult to explain) further away like shockwaves after an earthquake. They could be playing at a low level but it could be resonating on the floorboards and into your flat. Certain elements can amplify these lower frequencies. Sometimes putting a bass amp on rubber flooring can help. 

  • Learn to control your emotions through dedication to meditation. The problem is never the problem, it's our reaction to it that causes distress. If you really learn the tools meditation can give you, small issues become part of the everyday comings and goings of life. 

    It's tough, but with time comes a stronger ability to control your breathing, which directs your body to react less to outside stimulie

    Yes they do but you will still be able to hear what's going on but it does make the world quieter.

  • hey I've got AirPods Pro for when I go out they're easier just carry around and when I'm at home or ever go long distance travelling I have sennheiser PXC 550 over ear headphones the sennheiser ones are much better quality but it's definitely a get what you pay for product.

    I know they're both pretty expensive but they are 100% worth it.
