Forget Superman, what about ASD-Man!!!?

I have been on this site for a little while now, read a lot posts and a lot of replies. I have posted a number of topics myself, usually questions. In an attempt to understand who I am, where I fit in and how to manage a Neurtypical World.

What has struck me though all of this is how unappreciated and underrepresented all ASD's are, and how a lot of discussion is based on how to behave more NT in order to fit in!

I think we should celebrate our place in the world and try to embrace it. As a big evolutionist I often think about the dawn of man and how the world was colonised and eventually over colonised. Which got me thinking about the autistic brain. As highly logical, general unemotional, creative thinkers, Neanderthal spectrum folk would have been the ones to come up with a workable solution to move out of caves in the planes of Africa and go further afield. Probably leaving Neanderthal NT folk to have endless meetings about what to do, how to do it and then how to implement it, only to start all over again because they forgot to discuss steps B, D & J! So I'm sure we would be key to this phase of evolution.

The other part that I considered is the much discussed anxiety and heightened sensory awareness. Which led me to another scenario. While the group were sitting around the camp fire, the NT telling each other how fantastic they were and creating competitive arguments about nonsense that makes no difference, it would have been Spectrum guy who heard the twig break, calculated the Saber-toothed tiger attack, raised the alarm and moved everyone to safety. Again, playing a key role in the survival of humanity.

Jump forward a few millennia, and here we are in an NT dominated world, "led" in the main by NT governments, and it's a mess! The world is over populated to the brink of breaking point, spending is out of control, in fighting is rife across humanity, religious group control people through lies without facts or questions, and on a smaller scale. We have a medical system that is not fit for purpose, that no political party wants to address.

I could go on, and feel free to add your thoughts. However, surely history has shown that NT's are too emotional and self serving, which only leads to chaos, but when spectrum folk are able take charge, things get done quickly and efficiently, with logic and facts, but without over emotional interference. Perhaps with a bit of anxiety and the odd shut down!

Perhaps it's time to make ASD a political party for real change!

(bit of light hearted discussion for a Sunday!Grinning)
