Autism Meltdowns as an Adult.

Hey, I am new here. 

I am wondering if anyone has any tips or further advice to calming a “Meltdown” sorry if it’s not the correct term and I don’t mean to offend. 

A situation where it caused a extreme frustration and overwhelming response in a issue where I couldn’t resolve which triggered an episode of an anger outburst, resulting in self harm, not self harm in respect of depression, as in punching, slapping, hair pulling on oneself. 


The outburst lasted around 30/45 minutes, considerable amount of time and was exhausting. I’m still learning, and trying to understand why I get so overwhelmed and frustrated. 

It is not a common experience which I go through so I don’t know if there’s anything I could do to try to prevent them.
