Satisfying/Calming Youtube videos

Hi all,

I thought I would share some playlists from Youtube, I find these very "satisfying". You might find them calming or just interesting to watch.

post 10 drains flooded streets

This is a guy in New England, USA and when he finds street floods, unblocks the nearby storm drains. It starts out with a massive flooded street and by the end of it, all the water has drained out through his whirlpools. This is an example video, he also unblocks culverts and gets streams and rivers flowing again in some of his others.

Fix Your City

Cities: Skylines is a video game where you can create your own living city. This is a playlist of a Youtuber who fixes people's traffic problems - people send him the city they've made, which has over time created lots of traffic jams, and this guy sorts it all out by adding roundabouts and other traffic-reducing methods. It's quite light to watch, and it's satisfying because it starts out with no traffic moving and everywhere is clogged up, and by the end of it all the traffic is nicely flowing from one place to another.

...makes marble runs.

Hope you find these either help if you're feeling stressed, or give you a new interest.

If you have anything you watch that you find satisfying or calming, please add your link and description below.

  • You can find entire playlists on YouTube with selected soothing videos. I often play these selections when I'm doing something in the kitchen or want to relax. You can also find a lot of relaxing music on YouTube that you can play in the background. I also sometimes play Minecraft with friends in the evenings. We usually create a new world and build something in creative mode. When we get bored, we find some popular survival server and play it. I enjoy exploring the endless world and other players builds. It allows me to distract myself and relax.

  • Yeah, I like enjoy using draining rods too. I have always found these almost mundane (but useful) tasks so much more satisfying than say playing chess, sports or games. Small wonder then that I used to prefer doing rural work to going to school. And also why i eventually retired from teaching to actually do supposedly mundane work for myself at home.

There are also lots of examples of what I would call slow video and tv on Youtube. Here are a couple of huge favourites. Sure, they bwere probably first posted for train nuts and obsessive drivers; but note the first is called Railway Emotions. I like to follow the route of these journeys on a good map; and it's also very relaxing to see day-to-day life occurring along the trackside. And the changing weather! There's a huge selection And if the route isn't so wonderful or you are lacking the time for a longer journey, just watch them at double speed. Or take pause breaks.

Railway simulations, I get really bored with. It's the day-to-day events I like with these. It's a bit like a moving version of Google Earth, but with more interesting surprises.

  • I like the unblocking drains too, it's very satisfying. I also like the videos of sandcastles being worn away by the incoming tide. There's also some good videos on to help you get to sleep when you're struggling. I like the rainfall sleeping one.
