Son is struggling

Hi all. I'm  new on here. I have a 24yr old son with Aspergers. He has a full time job working at a hotel,  he has been furloughed  on and off since March  last  year. He's  now into his fifth month of continuous furlough  and is really struggling.  He stays in bed all day most days, 2 or 3 times a week he will get up mid afternoon  and  sometimes come with me and my  husband to walk the dog, on those days he seems ok.

Most days he gets up early evening,  but can take up to 3 hours to actually  come downstairs,  he just stands around in his bedroom  or bathroom not doing anything.  He will take 2-3 hours to eat his dinner and then just sits at the kitchen table until the early hours of the morning when he goes back to bed .  He won't  do  anything,  he used to like  visiting theme parks ,watching films or wrestling, or reading film reviews , but he won't  do  any of those now, he just sits, occasionally  he will play a song on Alexa. He doesn't  use social media and has no friends, he gets on well with his workmates, but doesn't  keep in touch outside of work.

He's  also started not drinking, I take him a vitamin drink around 8am, often it is untouched  12 hours later. He used to be very good at drinking a healthy amount of fluids , even to the point of asking if he was drinking too much.

He says he has no idea why he is behaving  like this. I'm  certain  it's  lack of routine , isolation/ loneliness and  having nothing to get up for.  I'm hoping things will improve  when he goes back to work in May  but meanwhile I hate seeing him like this. Now restrictions are lifting I've  suggested we make a list of things we can look forward to and day trips we can go on, but he has little enthusiasm.

Can anyone  identify with this ? Or suggest a way forward ?
