Supermarket fatigue

Hi everyone

I'm Andrew and I was diagnosed with autism today - bit of a shock as I'm 47! Anyway, for many years now when I go shopping at the supermarket (I've got kids so normally a big shop), within minutes I start to get really fatigued. I now have to listen to a podcast/audiobook to keep me from getting too tired as I shop.  I've always wondered why this happens but I'm now thinking that there must be a correlation with my ASD. Does anyone else have the same issue or am I totally barking up the wrong tree?

Looking forward to connecting.

Andrew

  • I was in a non-supermarket shop last week shopping for enjoyment for my hobby and couldn't cope. (It was autism awareness week last week).  There was music pumping out the speakers then reallg loud announcementd would come on and interrupt it. I couldnt concentrate. Added to that, droves of people walking through and kids running around.  Then I got too hot. It felt quite stressful.
