Again I have many. I think Toulouse-Lautrec is ultimately my favourite. As a child I was obsessed with cartoons, that was my thing, possibly it was because cartoon characters and their over the top gestures was something I could understand more readily, as a pose to humans and all their subtle nuances. Many of Toulouse-Lautrec’s later works had that caricature element to them and so I was naturally drawn to them.
aww yeah thats nice :) im still obsessed with animation and art. ive never heard of Toulouse-Lautrec, its nice to look at a new artist thank you for sharing :)
No worries, probably bypass his early works, he gets into his groove later in (a very short) life. The nightlife of Paris, especially at the Moulin Rouge is where you’ll find his more caricature works :)
oh right thats nice :) Dave McKean style looks interesting i will have a better look later :) aww thats good i like dc and i'm a Beano fan.
I’ll give most things a go, DC is my ultimate Superhero ‘Universe’ but I love some of the one-offs that you get, slightly more niche. There are hundreds of great graphic novel artists, but one of the more well known, Dave McKean is a particular favourite. I’m enjoying reading the DC graphic novels for younger children with my nephew at the moment, a lot of the art is fantastic. If all else fails we sit down with a copy of the Beano, which I think was where it all started for me.
yeah 70’s and 80’s and the 90s stop motion was some great years, i love weird and surreal stuff ive seen Quay Brothers animation, same i dont know whats going on but i love the details. i understand i still cant get the timing right with animation. yeah Boxtrolls was good, that would be great making the little sets and props, ive not looked at the newspaper headlines, i will have a looked :) aw nice what comics do you read or graphic novel.
aww im glad you liked it :)
I’ve just had a look at some of Lee Hardcastle’s work. Looks great. I’ll have a better look later.
Oooohhh, my favourite characters? That’s a hard one... W&G are fantastic, I pretty much like anything that comes out from Aardman. There were loads of great animations around in the 70’s and 80’s when I was growing up that I was obsessed about. There’s some awesome talent around. I watched ‘Boxtrolls’ a couple of months back (stop-motion) which was great. I couldn’t understand how I’d missed it on it’s release. I have dabbled but I always have problems with my timings. I’d love to be a model maker for sets and props. I love looking at all the small humorous details in animations such as W&G, newspaper headlines, car number plates, cardboard boxes etc. I’m into the Quay Brothers at the moment, quite dark and I can’t profess to understanding it all but brilliantly done. Their style is similar to that of animations that come out form Eastern Europe. So after a lot of waffle on my part, I can’t decide on my favourites. I’m a big comic and graphic novel reader too.
