Intrusive thoughts

I am a gentle person, always avoided and abhorred violence, but have been plagued with thoughts of suicide and was shocked once to have had thoughts of harming someone .

I gather such thoughts are common in most of us, but usually fleeting eg standing at a station wondering whether to jump under a train, driving wondering about a fatal accident.

In autistic thinking it seems these thoughts can become obsessive as part of the over control efforts to banish them. This is the ironic mental process. Just like trying to not think of pink elephants.

The greater the efforts to banish the thoughts, the more likely they are to persist.

any other thoughts of this stuff?
