Oxfordshire Adult Autism Assessment Troubles

I'm not in Oxfordshire, but I had a quick look on the web so it's either GP or self referral to Kingwood unless you're under Adult Mental Health Services. Nothing you don't already know so it seems like there's a breakdown in communication at the NHS end.

I've seen those situations where people are shuffled back and forth between "they-should-be-doing-that" and it's rubbish. If you're able to identify the contact details for the team for the hospital you fall under (from this list > https://www.oxfordhealth.nhs.uk/service_description/adult-community-mental-health-teams/) I'd suggest contacting your Patient Advice and Liaison Service to see if they can help you resolve the issue. You could also share your experience with the local healthwatch for your area https://www.healthwatch.co.uk/what-we-do so they're aware of the issue. They'll lobby to improve the service for other people.

Thanks for your response. The people at AMHT have said I basically need to leave their service to go to kingwood which I don't want to do because I'm under them for my ongoing mental health issues. I will email PAL hopefully they can help me.

The idea of being asked to give up on-going support to get an assessment from somewhere else is beyond silly so hopefully common sense will prevail. PALS should be able to advise you on making a formal complaint if they're not able to resolve it but I hope it doesn't get that far.

Update: So kingwood confirm they cannot assess me under AMHT and AMHT confirm they have no capacity to assess me either. So I'm stuck in this place of nobody being able to assess me.
