I've just received my diagnosis ?.

Hello,

I've just received my diagnosis as being a high functioning autistic person.  I know that many of you will understand the sense of relief that I am feeling right now.  I am an empath, which explains why I am so exhausted by my interactions.  I wanted to go to sleep after my morning's teaching.  I'm 47 years old, but finally gaining an acceptance of who I am.  Once my report goes back to my GP I am going to begin the process of stopping the antidepressants.

thanks

  • I understand your relief, as was diagnosed at 49. Masking is so exhausting, especially if you don’t know you are doing it. I burnt myself out and have had mental health issues most of my life which eventually led to diagnosis. I hope where you live that they offer post diagnostic support sessions as they can really help. After diagnosis I was initially relieved but then learning to navigate your way in the world without masking is a challenge. I hope your Gp is supportive too as that helps too.
