Finding Purpose in life

Hi Everyone

Jumping in on the deep-end with this topic but does anyone else struggle with purpose? I often feel I am lacking purpose in life and this feels me with a great deal of anxiety and depression, but I don't know whether this is caused but unreasonable expectations of what I should be achieving. I have a good job (Admittedly I find it dull) but otherwise I don't feel like I've achieved much in life and I think my overthinking of things only exacerbates this feeling. I just wondered whether I was alone in experiencing this or not, and if anyone else has felt this do you have any advice on how to overcome or combat it?

Many thanks in advance Slight smile

  • Years ago I read The Artists Way. It really helped begin to identify what was in the way of becoming. Now I suggest to younger 20 something individuals I might work with, to figure out what they do or are drawn to when bored. I also discovered showing up once a week for a group project (I'm part of Philosophy in Pubs, we're online right now) or a 'church' or community of some sort is a good way to grow into purpose as well. Along with having one person to be responsible toward. One charity. Not super-human, just something specific that's not a stretch. Right now I think many people feel lost, though. I try to set a few reasonable goals on a regular basis (finish this chapter, learn about this plant).

  • I ordered 'The Atrists' Way' and my copy is on its way.
