Moving home advice

HI,

Does anyone know of any easy read guides for Autistic Adults on moving home?

  • I did a quick search and found a few resources that might help. Have you checked out the National Autistic Society website? They have a ton of helpful information and resources for autistic adults, including a guide on moving home.
Also, it might be really helpful if you choose to move with a company like https://doortodoormover.com/ that can make your moving process as smooth as possible. They will take care of the entire process and you will not have to worry about it that much. I use moving company services every time I need to move because of my job.

  • As far as I know, there are specialized websites for people with autism with all the information you need on moving. Local authorities should take care of such people and provide them with all the help they need, especially in such serious matters. When planning our move, my husband and I watched videos and read articles with moving tips. If you've never moved, it's impossible to be 100% prepared for a move. It's important not to move alone and accept any help people offer you. Luckily, we used the services of a moving company, which made our move 100 times easier. At [link removed by moderator] we ordered the services we needed.

  • Hello NAS50286,

Unfortunately the NAS website doesn't have specific information for Autistic Adults moving home, however, you may be interested in contacting a local National Autistic Society branch. Our branches offers support to local autistic people and their families. Please follow this link to find a branch near you: www.autism.org.uk/.../local-branches

Every branch and group is different some are parent support groups, some provide support and information to autistic adults, while others have office premises and run their own a drop-in service.

    All the best,

    Karin Mod
