I've just received my diagnosis.

Hi,

I've just received my diagnosis as being a high functioning autistic person.  I know that many of you will understand the sense of relief that I am feeling right now.  I am an empath, which explains why I am so exhausted by my interactions.  I wanted to go to sleep after my morning's teaching.  I'm 47 years old, but finally gaining an acceptance of who I am.  Once my report goes back to my GP I am going to begin the process of stopping the antidepressants.

  • Congratulations - although be careful about antidepressants - it's not easy coming off them.

Part of ASD is the overblown fight-or-flight response  - your brain is constantly looking for escape routes - just in case.  Smiley

That will cause many 'not viable' exit routes along with viable ones so your brain gets used to constantly searching for options and that spills over into everyday life - you see all the non-viable life-decisions as well as the viable ones.

Normal people don't do this - they hide all the non-viable stuff and exaggerate the viable stuff so Doctors think that us talking about anything non-viable means we're depressed.
