Hey - another question :) 

Does anyone tend to have difficulties with long term relationships?  I'm not sure if my difficulty relates to autism- i've not had a long term relationship before,  longest once was 1month and wasnt serious. I find intimacy hard and feel like maybe i'll always be single - which doesn't bother me, i'd rather be happy and comfortable but would like to understand myself more has being in my 30's - people just assume/ expect that i have had relationships in the past.

  • You're not alone in this, I personally have had two shorter term relationships, both of which were fun but not without their challenges, and I am now in a long-term relationship that can be very challenging. It's quite difficult to constantly bear in mind another persons reactions and feelings to everything you do, and I would add that it is definitely worth finding someone that "Gets you" as I'm not convinced my current partner does and this often puts me under significant strain. In all honesty relationships, romantic ones at least, really aren't crucial to happiness and certainly won't provide it instantly, so I would say you're better off focusing on what makes you happy and if you meet someone that becomes a part of that, then fantastic. But there really is no set age or timeline, these things just happen when they happen :)
