Waiting list

Hey. Thanks to those who have previously give me advice. I done a self referral and been told today that the triage have accepted it so i am now on the waiting list - probably 1-2years waiting time.  I've read some posts talking about an initial appointment - is this done after the triage step?

I went quite in dept on the form,  mentioning some things i had kept to myself about behaviours and a lot of childhood history,  i was thinking i had just talked alot of nonsense and they would not accept at referral as my behaviours etc... arent similar to austism.   I'm guessing the behaviours etc.. are like autism if i'm going to be getting the full assessment?

I hate waiting for tests/assessments so i'm going to have to try and take my mind of it!

  • I received a letter that confirmed I was on the waiting list and it had an email address on it so I emailed questions to them.

  • Thank you - i'm hoping i'll receive a letter which will explain the process but my email about being accepted just mentioned being on the waiting list so might just involve doing the full assessment - my form maybe had all the information needed.

  • Thank you - that could be the same for my self referral. I'm hoping i might receive a letter with some information about the process.

  • In my area you can self-refer so I think the initial assessment is screening and signposting elsewhere if needed. It suggests from the way the paperwork is written that there may be support in between the initial and full assessment, but it could be that I am taking the structure of the letter to rigidly reflect the structure of the process...

  • I think having an initial appt varies from area to area. In my NHS trust at least, there is no initial appt, but a full, diagnostic assessment after the 2 year wait
