Life?! Help :o

Hi folks, my name’s Ellie and I’m new here :)

I was wondering whether any of you have had or are having similar difficulties to me. And if so, do you have any advice you could give me?

I’m really worried for myself and how the hell I’m going to survive in the world, especially regarding income and housing. At the moment I live with my parents which is difficult but I have no other choice and plan on doing for quite some time. I study complementary therapies but unfortunately I’ve hit a brick wall with it as there are no employment opportunities near to where I live. I can’t drive and don’t ever want to drive for safety reasons and for it just being entirely overwhelming! Long distance public transport isn’t really an option either because it’s super expensive and I live in a village where public transport isn’t regular.

So i’m wondering how do you folks get by regarding housing, travel and income?

    Are you aware that you can contact your local authority for a needs assessment ? The needs assessment will usually be carried out by an social worker who will meet with you and result in them working with you one to one or sign post you to organisations that can help with developing independent living skills, Organisations that can help you to be rehoused and help set up your utility bills and help find and organise educational opportunities, Employment opportunities as well as social engagement opportunities.   

    Most local authorities have Integrated Housing and Community Support Service which exists to help individuals with a range of physical health or mental health issues and other conditions including autism get independently housed. once the needs assessment has found a need and referred you to them they will provide you with a Social Inclusion Recovery Worker who will help you apply for social housing and help you set up things like bills.

    You currently live in rural location and do not have ability to drive like me, this should be enough to entitle you to this service. if you are currently unemployed and on benefits they will look into helping you to apply for additional benefits including housing that should help towards you cost of rent among other thing like council tax reductions. the  Social Inclusion Recovery Workers aim to help you become sustainable independent.
